Help : Searching for Products

Basic Search

A search field appears on most pages of the site. This is the fastest way to find products that Veer sells.

To search for products:

  1. Enter a search term in the text field, which is located in the search bar at the top of the page. Use descriptive keywords such as “dog” or “briefcase.” Multiple terms may be used to narrow your search criteria. Search terms can also include product numbers. See Using Keywords.
  2. 2. Select the checkboxes for product categories you wish to search, such as photography or fonts. The most common categories are included by default.
  3. Click the “Search” button.

Searching Within Results Using Additional Search Terms

Every search you perform will produce the “Narrow your search” column, located to the left of your search results. To search within the results of your previous search, add a term to the search box and click "Search” again.

For example, if your original search was “dog,” you could add the keywords “poodle” or “-cat” (to exclude images that include both dogs and cats).

Narrowing Your Search

Image size and price

Refine your search results by using the size and price filters. Choose the size of image, from extra small to extra, extra large, and set the slider to the maximum price you want to spend. Then click the “Update Search” button to filter your results. Note that if you use the price filters, your search will not include fonts. If your search results consist of fonts only, the size and price filters will be grayed out.

Image attributes

In this panel, you can filter by color, orientation, day vs. night, and business vs. non-business. Simply select the option(s) you want and then click the “Update search” button.

In the “People” panel, you can refine your search by specifying criteria such as number of subjects in an image, age range, and ethnicity. By default, all of the criteria are included. Clear the checkboxes you want to omit, or click “Clear all” and just select the checkboxes you are interested in.

Browsing Search Results

To see more information about any product, simply click its thumbnail image to open the product detail page. You can also click any of the three links beneath the thumbnails: Buy, Try, and Save.

This link will open the product detail page where you see more pricing information, choose a size (for images only), and specify a license. When you have made your selections, click “Add to cart” or “Buy now” to continue with your purchase.

This link will download a low-resolution, watermarked version of the image that you can use to try the image before you buy. If you decide you want the image, click “Buy” to purchase an unwatermarked version in the size of your choice.

This link will add the image to your default image album so you can share it with others, or come back later to buy the images in it. To view or manage your albums, click “Saved items” in the top right corner of the site.

Using Keywords

All products on the site have keywords associated with them. Keywords can describe the subject matter (e.g., man, dog), concept or mood (connect, happy), technique (blur, pan, zoom, watercolor), and other attributes such as central color, designer, font style, etcetera.

If you get too many results, narrow your search using “Search within results,” or add keywords to your search. For example:

  • “dog man” will return all images with these keywords (e.g. 500 results).
  • “dog man walk” will return all images with these keywords (e.g. 100 results from the previous 500).

You may use the following Boolean operators at any time:

  • and
  • or
  • not
  • +
  • -

Keywording is subjective. Try several terms to describe the product you’re looking for.

No Results

If a search returns no results, it usually means that your search terms or other criteria are too specific. By default, searches use “and,” returning products that contain all of your search terms. That is, all of the terms must be associated with each individual product. Inserting the word “or” between search terms will return a list of products that contain any one of the terms.

Ignored Terms

If your search includes a term that is not in the keyword database or is misspelled, the term will be ignored. For example, if you search for “dog coller,” you will see products keyworded “dog,” and a message that “coller” was ignored.

Product No Longer Available

If your search includes an invalid or discontinued product number, you will receive an error message telling you the product number is no longer available. If you require information regarding a product that is no longer available, please contact customer service.
