Creative Catalyst: Design For Change Competition

We asked you to design a piece for an issue that means something to you. Could be a charity or cause, global or local, but always with a social theme. The winner receives a £2000 donation for their selected organisation as well as Euro-wide publicity for themselves, a Computer Arts double-page feature and 2000 Veer Credits to use for their next creative projects. We had a fabulous response with well over 100 entries coming from all over the world. Fantastic work!

And the winner is...

We’re delighted to announce that Barton Damer has won first prize! He receives a £2000 donation for Malaria No More, a charity committed to ending suffering and death caused by malaria. He also wins a double-page Computer Arts feature, his design displayed at high-profile sites in London and Berlin as well as 2000 Veer Credits to use for his latest creative projects.

Malaria Kills by Barton Damer

Malaria Kills

Artist:Barton Damer

Then I want you to notice that there are a lot of disturbing things about this “Africa” - malaria being a big one. So you have this tension of a beautiful African queen, but on further observation you notice some of the disturbing elements that make up the artwork.

And the runners-up are...

These artists will also have their works displayed alongside the winner and all receive 1000 Veer Credits to spend on classic and exclusive fonts from £3.18 and exceptional vectors and images starting at 53p to make their next designs look brighter and say it even bolder.

Thanks to everyone who took part. Our judging panel, all experts in the design world, were bowled over by the talent and originality on display. So congratulations to everyone for their efforts, and come back and visit Veer for millions of incredible images and thousands of extraordinary fonts. Happy designing!
