Boredom by Armin Vit

The tale of the tape

Armin Vit Chicago, Illinois

Age: 26
Height: 6'
Weight: Too vain to reveal
Reach: 70"

Armin Vit is a graphic designer operating from the underbelly of Chicago’s creative community. Unafraid of public scrutiny, he has written for Eye and Emigre, and the list is just getting started. His work has been published in numerous publications around the world and has been awarded many times with much fanfare. He is better known for his feistiness behind the keyboard while commandeering Speak Up - a growing, all-encompassing community for designers. Despite his online persona, Armin remains timid at heart.

What the judges said

GH : It’s like, everybody has their bovine, cud-chewing side.

JP : Is he morphing into the cow? Or is the cow morphing into him? Maybe he’s a superhero who can change into a cow. Which is a pretty boring superhero. ‘Aha! Some grass is desperately in need of grazing! This is a job for... Cow!’

SP : Armin’s grid clearly reinforces the idea of drudgery and boredom. Moo, stare, moo, stare - every day it’s the same damn thing.

GH : I find his juxtaposition of TV dinner and toilet roll very effective. Their closeness implies that the dinner might not take long to digest - better keep that extra roll handy.

SP : The text is readable, but it’s hard to concentrate on it with all the hypnotic cowdudes staring at you. So it comes across as textural. But it’s cool, it’s reads like ‘blah blah blah’, which is boring. Effectively boring. It’s a good thing.
