The tale of the tape

*Pardon My Hindi

Who? Chiraag Bhakta
Where? New York City
Website? www.pardonmyhindi.com

Born to parents who owned and lived in a motel off a New Jersey freeway, Chiraag Bhakta fostered an interest in the arts at an early age. After graduating from the Hartford Art School in 1999 with his BFA in graphic design, he moved to New York City where he began working at design studio called Underline Design. After two years of working on print and web projects for clients ranging from high profile companies such as Nickelodeon to small start-ups, Chiraag trekked out on his own and begun his own design studio under the name *PMH (*Pardon My Hindi). Under this moniker, Chiraag not only does design work for corporate, nonprofit, and independent businesses, but also creates original paintings and other experimental projects that reflect his unique cultural point of view.

What the judges said

DW : *Pardon My Pink!

JP : Nice rose pattern. We’ll have to make a wallpaper from that.

BB : Something about the arrow makes me uncomfortable. Where it’s pointing, maybe. Or the symbolism of that particular bird...

SP : Ouch!

JP : The copy is snarky. Of course nothing’s impossible in dreams. Hence the phrase, “In your dreams.” Like “Will DW get a date? In his dreams!”

SP : Speaking of seeing the world through rose-colored glasses, I like the duotone effect on her.

DW : You hear about people dreaming in color or black and white, but I bet some designers dream in duotones.

BB : Do web designers dream in the web-safe palette?
