Yahoo! revives brand, revamps logo
Yahoo! hasn't exactly been avoiding the spotlight since
Marissa Mayer jumped behind the driver's seat as the new CEO.
On September 4th at 9pm (PT), the company's makeover is about to
get even more extreme. After 18 years, Yahoo! is introducing
a new logo. Yes, they've stuck with the same logo since 1995 - when
we were still using dial-up Internet access. Clearly a lot has
changed since then.
Kathy Savitt, Chief Marketing Officer at Yahoo! explains,
"Over the past year, there's been a renewed sense of purpose and
progress at Yahoo!, and we want everything we do to reflect this
spirit of innovation. While the company is rapidly evolving, our
logo - the essence of our brand - should too."
Fair point, Kathy! The company is preserving its purple
and white colors and the iconic exclamation point.
