Veer's SXSW Party at Frank

Veer's SXSW Party at Frank

Veer celebrated SXSW Interactive 2013 with a lunch meetup featuring artisan sausages, Veer merch and analog camera giveaways, and great conversation with a host of Veer fans and friends both old and new alike. We had a fantastic time and gave the lucky attendees a sneak peek at the new Veer site coming early this Spring. Thanks to all who came out - it was great to meet you all!

Big thanks as well to the staff at Frank for the great food and for all their efforts to help make our event a success (not to mention their amazing bloody marys!)

Contributor Profile March 2013

Contributor Profile March 2013

Ying Feng Johansson, or PinkBadger, turns everyday urban occurrences into a delightful visual experience. With an eye for simple, yet striking composition, the PinkBadger captures the fleeting moments of a city in motion under its most flattering light.

When asked about her style and creative process, Ying explained that while traveling always offers a fun and fresh way to shoot, her best shots are most often captured in her familiar neighborhood, "places I visit often" she explains "where I can see the light changing and choose the right conditions for a good shot. As a tourist you can rarely catch the right moments."

Much of her work in this Veer collection plays with the fading lights in an always-awake urban setting, showcasing her skill with longer exposures and motion -- not to mention patience and a reliable tripod.

When we asked Ying who influences her work, she explained, "When it comes to composition and light, I really admire the old painters, Monet and Rembrandt come to mind. There is a lot to learn from them, that can be used also for photography."

And as for her advice for budding photographers, "… Spend a lot of time in front of the computer; taking the photo is only the first step. For microstock, don´t underestimate the value of finding good keywords."
