About this typeface:

Vatican is a calligraphic face. The lower case is influenced by the lettering of Arthur Baker but the caps are more formal, the shape of the Cap V reminded me of a Bishop’s mitre which led eventually to the name. The lighter weight works particularly well in smaller text. —Alan Meeks

About the designer:

Highly-regarded British type designer Alan Meeks joined Letraset in 1975 as the Senior Type Designer and Studio Manager where he was responsible for all the artwork produced by the Letraset studio.

During his tenure at Letraset, he designed over 40 popular typefaces (28 of which are featured in the Letraset Fontek collections on Veer.) Together with type director Colin Brignall, Alan turned Letraset into one of the most important and influential type foundries in the world.
