About this typeface:
Originally commissioned by national Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail, Brown is named after its founder, 19th century politician, educator, and publisher George Brown. This is a condensed sans serif with rounder letterforms than the usual Swiss grotesques. There are no straight edges - the subtly concave treatment makes it a matching contrast face for micro-detailed serifed types such as Walburn and Worldwide. Bold and Extra Bold Condensed fonts have finer details, very tight fit, and extensive kerning, for use at large sizes. The figures have proportional widths.
Ten faces: Light, Regular, Medium, and Bold, with Italics of each; Extra Bold, Bold Condensed.
Brown Gothic was designed by Nick Shinn.
